MAVERICK VIÑALES REDEEMS HIMSELF AFTER A BAD SPRINT RACE WITH A GREAT FINISH ON SUNDAY.
After the nasty crash in the Sprint race, caused by a violent collision with Bezzecchi in turn 1, Maverick Viñales managed to salvage his Austrian weekend: he secured a front-row start and finished eighth in Sunday's Grand Prix. Difficulties for his teammate, Aleix Espargaró, who reported having little feeling with the track throughout the weekend.

“I had a great start, but unfortunately, a contact with Jack Miller on the first lap at the braking point in turn 10 broke my winglet, putting me at the back of the group. Recovering from that far behind is tough and affects the race result. I tried to go as fast as possible; in fact, the pace in some laps wasn’t bad at all. The broken winglet didn’t help, especially since the bike became unstable."

“The race went well, we maximized the potential of our bike, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. I feel better in my left arm, although my back started to hurt. There wasn’t a physical limit; we just couldn’t be fast enough."
